About Haeon

My name is Haeon, and I'm a Korean-Canadian nonbinary queer therapist who specializes in complex issues like treatment resistant mental illness, complex trauma, relational issues, grief, identity, 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, and chronic stress.

I live at the intersection of many marginalized identities and have personally struggled with severe mental illness, trauma, poverty, and discrimination based on my racialization, gender, sexual orientation, and social location. I know what it's like to feel unwelcome, crazy, desperate, and hopeless. I know what it's like to constantly feel like you're on the outside.

Despite these challenges, I grew and healed. I resisted. I rested. I cried. I spent a lot of time in the hospital, in my therapist's office, and at the pharmacy. From a young age, I wanted to help, to right the wrongs in this world, but it was only as my own wounds began to close that I was able to do so in a healthy way.

Therapy is such meaningful work to me. It excites me, it challenges me, and it makes me feel human. I do this work because I truly love it and because it works! I hope many of you get to experience the alchemy of therapy for yourselves.

When I'm not being a therapist, I'm a partner, artist, academic, and parent of two wonderful critters (a dog and a bird). I spend my free time reading, hiking, weightlifting, and creating art. I mend clothes, write poetry, and stare at cool plants. Most of all, I try to live, which means I experience suffering, joy, and everything in between.

It's been a long and difficult struggle to get to this place, but I made it, and I know you can make it too.

Flower is retired!

Hey folks!

Flower would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to walk with you all on your therapy journeys. As she is getting older, she is experiencing some health issues that make it harder for her to be present to clients. We’ve decided together that it’s time for her to retire in her role as a therapy pup.

There are plans to onboard another therapy dog in 2027, but in the meantime, we will miss having a furry helper around!

Thank you, Flower, for your service!
